The Bet

The Bet
by: Rachel Van Dyken

Blurb:
"I have a proposition for you." Kacey should have run the minute those words left Seattle millionaire Jake Titus's mouth. It's been years since Kacey's seen her childhood friend Jake, but the minute Jake mentions his ill grandmother, Kacey is ready to do anything for the sweet old woman. And if that means pretending they're engaged for her sake-so be it.

But Kacey wasn't counting on Jake's older brother Travis still being there. She calls him "Satan" for a reason: she's never forgotten the way he teased and taunted her. Yet when they meet again, Travis's gorgeous smile is a direct hit to her heart . . . and Kacey's more confused than ever. As the days pass, only one thing starts to become alarmingly clear-she never should have accepted Jake's deal

4.25 Solid Stars

My Review:

Loved this book! I started out rooting for Jake but he showed us his true douchey colors pretty quickly. Travis and Kacey fighting had me in stitches. Their back and forth bickering, oh my! LOL. Thank goodness Kacey saw the light finally.

Travis is so yum. He is so sweet and sentimental and I loved when he finally hooked Jake. I wouldn't mind doing the same thing to him myself.

And the grandma. OMG! She made the story. I want to be her when I grow up. So cute. Such a little faker she is.

I give it a solid 4.25 stars!!

Play Me

Play Me (Take a Chance #3)
by: Diane Alberts

Blurb:
Even the best-laid plans can go awry.
Single-mom Kiersten Worth knows a bottle of champagne and night of hot, no-strings-attached sex is the perfect solution to her jilted bride blues…and Garrett Kelly, long-time friend and her teenaged son’s sexy basketball coach, is just the stud for the job.
Garrett wants more from the elusive temptress than a casual affair, but he never expects it to come in the form of an unexpected pregnancy. When he proposes an unorthodox solution—move in and raise their baby together—Kiersten has to decide whether to let down her guard and open her heart to the man who secretly loved her for years, or risk losing his tender embrace for good.

*****************************************************************************
4 SmutWhore Love me some Garrett Stars!!
*****************************************************************
Review:
Well, this was an unexpected great read for me. Kiersten thinks she is broken and no longer looking for a relationship, but she has needs that need satisfying. She decides she needs to have one hot night with her long time friends, the hot, sexy Garrett Kelly. What she doesn't expect is that one night to turn into a forever type commitment in the form of a mini Kiersten and Garrett.

Garrett convinces Kiersten they need to move in together and raise the baby and her older son together as a family, even if they aren't together as a couple. This is all suggested with the hopes Garrett can wear down Kiersten and eventually get her to fall since he has been harboring a years long crush on her. I don't want to give too much away, but this was very much an enjoyable read. It was funny, sometimes sappy, and sometimes downright irritating. But, that's a good book right. One that sparks emotions. There were times when Kiersten would get on my nerves and I wanted to scream at her like "what the pluck are you doing?" She just had a hard time admitting her feelings. It was quite comical.

Great read here. Don't hesitate to pick it up and give it a try. I am off now to play some basketball! :)

Elite by Rachel Van Dyken - WOW

Elite
by: Rachel Van Dyken
Elite (Eagle Elite #1)

Blurb:
When I won the annual Eagle Elite College Scholarship lottery, I was thrilled. After all, my grandma had just died and I wanted to take care of my aging grandpa -- he couldn't be a farmer in Wyoming forever. And graduating from Eagle Elite meant opportunity.

But I wasn't counting on meeting Nixon.

Nor was I counting on the rules of the Elect.

1. Do not touch The Elect.
2. Do not look at The Elect.
3. Do not speak to The Elect.

And worst of all? Don't discover the secret they hide, because in the end, you may just realize... it's about

*****************************************************
4.5 Intense, Oh my goodness, did I just read a book about the mafia and love it STARS!
**************************************
My Review:

I freaking loved this book. This is one of those that I decided to read without paying any attention to reviews or even much attention to the blurb. I requested it, Netgalley granted permission, and I started reading. I really had no clue what I was about to read. I must say, that turned out to be a very good thing. I was completely shocked at what happened after the necklace was discovered.

I started off hating Nixon's guts. He was an arrogant douchebag who I wished someone would wipe the floor with. Chase was my fave. I was rooting for him to be with Trace in the beginning. It seemed like every time Nixon wasn't there, Chase was. Chase was Trace's anchor. I started off loving Trace because she was such a firecracker and didn't take any crap off anyone. I got sick of her whining and crying towards the end, but hell, I had tears in my eyes half the time, so what right do I have getting annoyed with her when it was tearing me apart? Grandpa, grandpa, grandpa. What the heck? You totally pulled the wool over all our eyes. Just some old farmer from Wyoming, my ass. You are slick dude, real slick.
This story had me totally invested and I could not put it down once I started. It was fantastic. It was totally different from anything I have ever read, because I don't think I have read anything involving the mafia. I have to say I was a little sick over Phoenix, but he got what he deserved.

Rachel, you have totally killed me with the Prologue for the next book, Elect, at the end of Elite. Really? You just had to do that, right? ARGH!!! Until you release it, I will be losing my mind!
Looks like, according to the reviews, this is one of those you either love or don't. Not much in between. As for me, I LOVE. :)

Escaping Reality

Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen#1)
by: Lisa Renee Jones
Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen, #1)
Blurb:
Infinite possibilities….
Infinite passion…..
Infinite danger….

His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.

At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.

On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?

5 OMG Why did this book have to end and when is the next one coming out STARS!
******************************************

Holy crap, this was a good book. Talk about a book consuming you and forcing you to think nothing other than about the characters here. Wow! As this book got closer and closer to the end, I was screaming internally for some closure or something. I want, no I NEED, more. I definitely need to know what happened in Amy's past. Why was the fire covered up? Who did it?

Amy is off for a new life when Liam enters the picture. He is the smoking hot billionaire and is hiding something. I don't know what it is, but something is off. Something is off with everyone. The only one I feel like without a hidden agenda is Jared. Just when I was about to come out my skin, the book ended. What was he talking about? Is he coming after her? Is there significance with the pyramids? UGH!

This author has roped me in and I cannot WAIT for book #2. This book is fantastic. Do not miss!

Hot Mess Blog Tour

Hot Mess
by: Anne Conley

Let me just start off and say that this book is amazeballs. That is simply the best way to put it. When I first started on this book, I expected another man moves in near woman and their love story develops. I figured it would be same ole, same ole since most books these days seem to be kind of cliche'.

What I did not expect to find was a deeply emotional, learning journey as two people overcome fears and rejection to  find something deeper. I don't know how else to put it. This book deals with a disease. I learned so much from this novel and I will never, ever look at that disease the same. I am sorry to admit that I was one who didn't understand it. Anne does such an amazing job getting the reader to become completely immersed. I fell in love with Rachel from the start. I love her honesty and bravery. Sam was such a sweetheart and I am so proud of his actions, although it took a while for him to get it right. I loved the blog posts and excerpts from the Fireman's handbook at the beginning of the chapters. I totally looked forward to those.

Ladies, don't pass this one up. Make sure you have tissues handy because if this one doesn't push tears out, then you might be emotionally broken. Just sayin'.

This is an emotional, beautiful, lovely novel and I do believe I am now officially an Anne Conley fan!!  Thanks so much for the ARC and letting me be a part of your blog tour!

My Review:

First, thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

This is a really cute Romance/New Adult novel. What I really loved about this one is that it was so different from other books I have read. Sometimes you just need a book that isn't so full of angst and cheating and turmoil and this one is just that. Sometimes you just want to read a book and feel the love and not get heartburn. Right, girls?

Jill stumbles in Ty's world and Ty falls quickly. After beating around the bush for a year, Ty finally starts to make his move. I absolutely adored Ty. He is one of my favorite book boyfriends now. He is so sweet, honest, understanding, and just freaking perfect. I love how he openly admits his feelings for Jill without all the major idiotness we see in some books from the hero (is that a word-idiotness)? Oh well. Jill is pretty great. I am thrilled she showed her dad up! Sometimes parents put too much pressure on the kids and ruin the sport for the kid. I see it happen all the time. Jill got on my nerves a few times with her nieveness (is that a word), but we have to look at the ages here. I kept expecting something more from Lyle, like some sabotage to the relationship or something. Maybe I have read too many angsty novels. And Olivia, you are such an attention whore!

I learned some new fishing terms from this book and I can honestly say I want to gather my pole and a box of worms and head to the lake. Oh, and I most certainly won't forget my Nook when I do that.

If you are in the mood for a great romance/new adult novel, then don't hesitate to try this one out. It's cute and sweet without giving you a toothache.

My review:

This is a great freaking book. I have read several by this author and while the others were good, this one was great. I found myself captivated and had a hard time putting the book down to do real life stuff, like work, take care of kids, etc.  ;)

I fell in love with Delaney instantly and completely admired her for what she was trying to do. Adrian was beautiful. I see him as a lost soul trying to find his way. At first I struggled understanding his deep heartache but then the bomb was dropped and it all clicked into place. At that point I became a blubbering, crying mess! And the tshirt under the pillow...OMG!

I loved catching up with Colt and Cheyenne. I had fallen in love with them in Charade, which is the first in the series. Their love is beautiful and they are such good friends to Adrian.

Adrian's poems were fantastic and the one saying he was trying ripped at my heartstrings so hard. Just a great freaking book. And to top it all off, there was smut! Way to go Nyrae!!!

If you want a deeply emotional, great read to spark emotions, this is the one. Don't pass it up!

My review:

This book knocked my socks off. I was truly mesmerized by Camryn and Andrew's story. From the very beginning, I was captivated and couldn't get enough. I don't think I took a single break while reading this book. I laughed, I cried, I became an overly emotional mess. J.A. Redmerski has the ability to just truly consume you. I fell head over heels in love with Andrew. He is in the top 3 of my all time favorite book boyfriends.

This was quite possibly the best book I have ever read! I will be on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one to come out. If you haven't read this one yet, stop what you are doing and read it. It is totally and completely phenomenal.

So, this isn't my normal genre of reading, but I was blown away. I love myself some erotica and I really enjoy historical reads. Combine both of them and you get The Quiver of a Kiss, The Seduction of Helen of Troy. So, most people know of Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships. The author is brilliant. I loved the way her words just seemed spot on with the time period. I am just so completely blown away and can't even believe I waited so long to try a book like this. The story was beautifully told and I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this.

What a great, unexpected find! Way to go, Sarah!

5 Oh my God, Frustrated me to the end of the Earth SmutWhore Stars!

********************************************
SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Well, Ambrosia picks up right where Metamorphosis leaves off. Scarlett is back. And in true Scarlett immature fashion, she makes a mess out of everything. Scarlett comes back and falls right into Mason's arms. Let me just say, I am Team Mason. As in, Team Mason, please leave Scarlett the hell alone and come to mama!  Let her have Ash. LOL. Anyway, no questions asked, he takes her back, they fall into bed, and it starts a whole mess of craziness!! Yep, craziness.

Mason is keeping a secret from Scarlett. After someone lets the cat out of the bag, we think okay, this is going to work. Okay, here's the deal. The secret is that the band is moving. Scarlett seems fine, but we should know that 1)Ash is obviously her soul mate and not giving up  2)she is immature (I mean, hey, she's only 20 and do we really think she is mature enough to have a long distance relationship?) and 3)there is always someone out to ruin a good thing. That someone is Bitchy McBitch, Mason's hookup/Band Manager.

Bitchy McBitch stirs shit up and we get introduced to a shitstorm of events. Yep, ladies and gentlemen, the shit hits the fan and things go from bad to worse.. I don't want to ruin this book for anyone, so I am going to stop discussing that and just say OMG.

Rant Alert:
I am a pissed off woman at this point. Pissed off that my man Mase let things get to him so bad. Pissed off that Scarlett fell for The Bitch's bullshit. Pissed off that a book got to me so much. And pissed off that the book stopped at the point when I just caught my breath. When this book ended, I was a snot nosed, blotchy faced, ugly crying mess in need of a damn antidepressant and pack of tums. I am in NEED of my next fix. Please, Erin Noelle, please don't make us wait long. I am DYING here!

As pissed off as this book made me, I have no choice but to give it 5 stars. I mean, come on, any book that can get you worked up like that is totally worthy of a high rating. Otherwise, I would've said, meh, and moved on.

READ THIS BOOK! Of course, don't read this book unless you've read Metamorphosis or else this book isn't going to make any sense at all to you. So, if you haven't read Metamorphosis, READ IT and then READ THIS BOOK!
